Organized by the French Federation of Landscape Architects (FFP, Fédération Française du Paysage), the 61st World Congress of the International Federation of Landscape Architecture (IFLA) will take place in Nantes, France, from September 10-12, 2025, under the theme "Guiding Landscapes".
This event will take place under the High Patronage of Mr Emmanuel MACRON President of the French Republic
Attendees will include practitioners, researchers, businesses, educators, students, and journalists, as well as anyone interested in the impact of landscape architecture on society, economy, and culture.
This three-day event will showcase inspiring conferences and presentations, professional visits, technical exhibition and social events and excursions, with a special focus on highlighting the Nantes region and France.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore sustainable and inclusive urban solutions, drawing inspiration from Nantes' reputation as an open urban laboratory
The city's innovative approaches to creating resilient urban districts, improving soil health, and developing urban biodiversity will serve as practical examples of landscape architecture's role in addressing major climate challenges.
Organisers
International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA)
IFLA is the only international non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting the profession of landscape architecture and advancing the quality and sustainability of built and natural environments worldwide. IFLA is the body that represents 80 national professional member organisations across five regions (IFLA Africa, IFLA Americas, IFLA Asia-Pacific, IFLA Europe and IFLA Middle East) and more than 100,000 landscape architects worldwide. Our mission is to promote the landscape architecture profession within a collaborative partnership with the built environment professions, demanding the highest standards of education, training, research and professional practice and providing leadership and stewardship in all matters. As a global federation, IFLA’s allies are international bodies like the United Nations, its agencies, and other built environment international organisations.
Fédération Française du Paysage (FFP)
The Fédération Française du Paysage (FFP) is the national association representing landscape architects, most of whom hold the title of “paysagiste concepteur” (landscape architect), a title that recognizes the profession under the law for the reconquest of biodiversity, nature and landscapes.
It has over 700 landscape designer members who hold a higher diploma in landscape design issued by a French public establishment of higher education in landscape design, as well as people who have had their professional experience recognized by the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition (i.e. almost one professional in three).
